How to Maintain Bridal Beauty on your Special Day

How to Maintain Bridal Beauty on your Special Day

Planning your special day can take months, even years. From the very first save the date, to purchasing the final favours for your wedding guests, most brides eat, sleep and breathe their wedding.

However, amongst the planning and organising, many brides forget to take care of what is most important, herself. Of course, the ritual facials, teeth whitening and excessive visits to the gym may in a bride’s eyes fall into the category of taking care of themselves, in the mist of all of the wedding chaos, it isn’t until their special day they are able to sit back, relax and be pampered.

Therefore, to help you look flawless as you walk down the aisle, I have compiled together some top tips on how to maintain your bridal beauty all day long.

Plan a Consultation

Meeting your make-up artist for a consultation 6-8 weeks before your wedding is a perfect way to try out different styles and looks. A style you may have been fond of on a celebrity might not looks so great on us as we all have individual beauty that needs can be highlighted in a variety of different ways. Therefore your consultation is all about finding out what is best for you and enhancing your natural beauty. I recommend wearing your makeup for the rest of the day so you know how it lasts. If there is anything you notice, for example you needed more blush by the end of the day of your skin was shiny by the evening I can adapt the products I used so it will be perfect for the wedding day.

Timings

Always make sure you plan enough time with your make-up artist on your wedding day. Utilise your consultation to discuss the wedding morning and prepare timings for your special day. I can appreciate how time slips away so planinng to finish an hour before the ceremony or before you need to leave gives you time to get into your dress, have last minute photos and have time with your bridal party without any rushing. I allow 45 mins for each member of the bridal party and 60 minutes for the bride. I explain that I will work around the hairstylist with whoever is available, but when it comes to the bride it would be great if she has her hair done before makeup – Just before getting into her dress! With larger bridal parties I will also allow time once the bride has been made up for final touch-ups and more lashings of lipstick.

The essentials and touching up

As I am not able to stick around for the entire day, I am happy to discuss the essentials you should invest in to maintain your beauty look all day long. This may be purchasing a lipstick or pressed powder to help keep a flawless finish all day long. My airbrush foundation should be enough to last the duration but on a hot summers day I can’t promise everyone will be completely shine free, so a pressed powder or blotting sheet can be the one thing that keeps your makeup looking picture perfect all day long.

To achieve a beautiful bridal makeup look that lasts, I leave each member of the bridal party with a little kit of lipstick/lipgloss sample and applicator wand, blotting sheets and eyelash glue.
